What is the LA Fire Card?
The LA Fire Card is a certification card issued to individuals that have complete the required fire and life safety training taught by LAPD or LAFD certified instructors, equipping healthcare professionals and community members with essential life-saving skills.
Who is required to obtain the LA Fire Card?
Any Healthcare Professional that is intending to work at a Los Angeles Based Facility is required to obtain the LA Fire Card.

Types of LA Fire Card
There are two types of LA Fire Card, The LA Fire Card Blue and the LA Fire Card Pink.
LA Fire Card - Blue
The LA Fire Card Blue is a certification issued by the Los Angeles Fire Department for healthcare workers who complete a fire safety training course titled "Hospital Fire and Life Safety Training". This Card is valid for four years and is for those individuals working as hospital employees or working in acute settings in Los Angeles Counties.
An acceptable LA Fire Card - Blue will have the following:
Your Name
Certified by LA City Fire Department
Course Name: Hospital Fire & Life Safety Training
Instructor Name
Fitness # (If your card looks like the below example 2, the fitness number may not be present)
Expiration Date
LA Fire Card - Pink
The LA Fire Card Pink is a certification issued by the Los Angeles Fire Department for healthcare workers who complete a fire safety training course titled "Institutional Fire & Life Safety Training". This Card is valid for two years and is for individuals working in non-acute settings in Los Angeles Counties.
An acceptable LA Fire Card - Pink will have the following:
Your Name
Certified by LA City Fire Department
Course Name: Institutional Fire & Life Safety Training
Instructor Name
Fitness #
Expiration Date

Does the LA Fire Card Expire?
Yes. The LA Fire Card does expire, and this expiration is dependent on the type of card you carry. If you have a LA Fire Card - Blue you must recertify every 4 years. If you have a LA Fire Card - Pink you must recertify every 2 years.
How long does the LA Fire Card Training Course take?
This is dependent upon a few items such as the type of certification you are needing to obtain (such as LA Fire Card Blue or Pink), where you obtain this training (such as LAfirecard.com), and whether you conduct this training online or in-person. The LA Fire Card Blue can take anywhere from 4-6 hours to complete whereas the LA Fire Card Pink is approximately 2 hours.
Am I required to have a LA Fire Card?
Any Healthcare Professional intending to work at a Los Angeles based facility is required to obtain the LA Fire Card certification.
Do I have to Pay for the LA Fire Card Course?
Yes. If you are intending to work at a facility that requires the LA Fire card and is based in a Los Angeles County, you will be responsible for the payment and upkeep of your LA Fire Card Certification.
