Background Check Steps

Before you can start your background check, you must first have your core credentials verified. This includes your Professional License, Identification and I-9.

The process for the completion of your background check will depend upon your residency for the state of Wisconsin.

Regardless of residency, the following must be completed by all employees:

  • Sign the Wisconsin BID Form, located in the ShiftMed app.

    • Please answer all of questions to the best of your ability.

  • Once this form has been completed, ShiftMed will request your background check through the WORCS system.

Long-time Wisconsin Residents

If you have lived in Wisconsin for three (3) or more years, no further action will be needed.

New Residents and Non-Residents

If you have lived in Wisconsin for LESS THAN three (3) years, a Checkr background check will also be required.

  • To initiate a background check, you must first unlock a shift

    • On the "Unlock Facility" page, find the Complete Requirements section.

    • Select the Background Check option.

    • Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the required forms directly in the app. You must finish these forms to proceed.

Check out this article for more information on Checkr background checks.

What Happens Next

  • WORCS results are typically available after 2-3 business days.

  • Checkr results are typically available within 2-3 weeks.

    • The Estimated Completion Date can be viewed on the Checkr website.

  • While processing, your Background Check credential will appear as "Pending" in the My Credentials section of the app.

Once Your Background Check is Complete

When we receive the final results, your profile and credential status will be updated automatically. You will then see this requirement marked as complete.

The ShiftMed app will notify you right away when you are available to start working.
