A Food Handler Card is a state-issued credential that proves a worker has passed a required safety training course. Its purpose is to ensure all food handlers know how to prevent contamination and foodborne illness in a professional setting.

This credential is currently required for anyone working on a Memory Care Unit within the state of Arizona.

Obtaining the Certification

The certification for a Food Handler card is typically issued by ANSI (American National Standards Institute) or an accredited affiliate. You can obtain this certification through any organization listed here:

Uploading Your Credential

  • In the app, a shift card will display an "Unlock" button instead of a "Claim" button if you are missing a required credential.

  • Tap the Unlock button to display the specific requirements for that shift.

  • Tap on Food Handler Card

  • Select the Add Credentials button and either take a photo of your card, or select a photo from your gallery.

When adding your information in the app, the following must be included:

  • First and Last Name

  • The Card or Certificate, which must indicate that it is a Food Handler Card or Certificate.

Once your missing credential(s) are verified, the "Unlock" button will change to "Claim," giving you access to all applicable shifts.
