A professional license is a credential issued by a state or provincial board that verifies a healthcare professional’s qualifications to practice, based on required education, training, and exams.

3. Once you've chosen your license type, go ahead and fill in your license information, you will need:
Your license number
The state you are licensed in
How long you've held your license
And if your license is a multi-state or compact license
If you have another license you can tap "Add Another License" to add any other licenses you have.
If you don't have anymore licenses, tap "Next" to go to the next step of the application.
IMPORTANT: Uploading a professional license is not required for you to continue with your application, however it is highly recommended to upload it as soon as possible to avoid delays with onboarding.
Adding Additional Licenses
The shift feed only shows shifts that match your verified professional license(s). If you hold multiple licenses, make sure all are added to the app.
For example, if you joined ShiftMed as a CNA and later earned your LPN license, you must add the LPN license to see LPN shifts. Or, if you're licensed as a CNA in two states, include both licenses to access shifts in each state.
To ensure you can access all the shifts you’re qualified for, here’s how to add additional licenses to the app:
Step 1: Go to the 'My Credentialsˈ section of the app and tap on ˈProfessional Licenses.ˈ
Step 2: On the ˈProfessional Licensesˈ screen, tap the ˈAdd Another Licenseˈ button.
Step 3: Select the ˈLicense Typeˈ from the drop-down menu and enter the requested information.
Step 4: Tap the ˈSaveˈ button to submit your information for verification.
Adding a Compact or Multi-State License
A professional license can be issued for a single state or as a compact license, also known as a multi-state license. A compact license allows nurses to practice in multiple participating states under one license.
IMPORTANT: If you plan to work in multiple states, you must meet all state-specific requirements, which may include additional background checks, immunizations, and other credentials.

Professional License Certificate
A Professional License Certificate is a document issued by a state licensing board after a healthcare professional meets all requirements and passes the licensing exam. The Professional License credential contains a primary source verification (PSV) document that confirms the license is active and in good standing. Note: Not all states issue a physical license certificate.
Some states—such as Florida, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin—may require both the Professional License Certificate and the Professional License to be on file and verified before you can claim a shift.

CNA Reciprocity
Reciprocity is the process of transferring your CNA certification or license from one state to another. To do so, you must meet the new state’s specific requirements, which vary by state.
As a ShiftMed CNA, you can only claim shifts in states where you hold an active license. Keep in mind that each state has its own rules, processes, and certification standards.
