When you will need and who can be your references.

A reference is a person identified by you who can answer ShiftMed’s questions about work ethic, reliability, ability to provide adequate care services, and relation to the applicant.

Although ShiftMed considers references a pro credential, there are some states where this document is required based on location and years of experience to be eligible for employment. Depending on the state and length of work experience, a supervisor may be required.

Adding Your References In-App

  1. Navigate to the Shift Feed and locate a facility you want to work at

  2. Tap Unlock


  3. Tap References on the Unlock screen


  4. Enter your Reference's information


  5. After entering your Reference's information, click "Add Reference".

  6. Once submitted, they will show at the bottom of the screen as "Active References" and will show as pending until we have verified their responses. Your reference will receive "Yes" or "No" text messages requesting they answer questions about you. We will need them to respond to those texts, so be sure to let them know.
