CPI Training provides the de-escalation techniques and behavior management strategies needed to create a culture of safety within a variety of different environments. The Crisis Prevention Institute offers a variety of programs to meet the needs of various organizations and risk levels. CPI Training certification is often required of health care professionals working in Emergency Departments or Behavioral Health hospitals or units.

Types of CPI Training
There are 3 types of CPI trainings you can get, see below for more details:
CPI Blue Card
This training is for primary caregivers, educators, and healthcare professionals who
directly intervene in crisis situations, teaching staff de-escalation techniques as well as
restrictive and nonrestrictive interventions. This is the most commonly required CPI
certification type required by our facility partners.
In-Person Crisis Prevention Training
This is ideal for facilities and roles with hands-off policies and trains staff to respond to
crisis situations with a focus on de-escalation techniques and safe, non-restrictive
interventions.
Online Crisis Prevention Training
This equips staff with decision-making skills to assess and address risk. It combines
verbal intervention strategies and restrictive interventions with advanced physical skills
for high-risk scenarios such as those that require floor intervention.
In all cases an acceptable CPI Training Card will have the following:
Your Name
Issue Date
Amount of Hours Completed
If you have a Certificate of Achievement for the successful completion of CPI training, you must upload this with the CPI Blue Card for us to be able to accept it.
Adding Your Information to the App
Go to My Credentials and tap on Crisis Prevention Training located under either Required, Additional, or Unlock depending on your location.
