If you are a CNA who does not live in Ohio but wants to claim shifts in The Buckeye State, you must have an Ohio STNA license and complete a BCI and an FBI background check.

Ohio STNA License Requirement

Every nursing assistant or nurse aide working in Ohio must hold a state STNA license.

  • If you already hold an Ohio STNA License, please upload a copy to the ShiftMed app.

  • If you hold a CNA license from another state, you can transfer it to Ohio. Click the button below for more information.

Ohio Background Check Requirements

If you do not live or have not lived in Ohio for at least five years, you must complete a BCI (Bureau of Criminal Investigation) and an FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) background check. Why?

These background checks are in place to ensure that non-residents working in Ohio and individuals living in Ohio for less than five years do not have a criminal record that could pose a risk to the community.

We partner with FastFingerprints to help you complete your BCI and FBI checks quickly and easily.

We cover the total cost of these background checks when completed through Fastfingerprints. We will send you an email with a link to start the process.
