ShiftMed Next Day Pay®: Everything You Need to Know

Access your earnings the next business day with no fees.

After clocking out of a shift, you can use our Next Day Pay® service to have up to 65% of your pre-tax earnings deposited into your bank account the next business day—with ZERO transaction fees. And, if you haven't heard, we also offer Instant Pay.

ShiftMed healthcare professionals with active wage garnishments will not be eligible to use ShiftMed Instant Pay or Next Day Pay.


Next Day Pay Requirements

Before using Next Day Pay, you must set up your direct deposit in the ShiftMed app using your checking account information. Savings accounts are not eligible for Next Day Pay.

Once your direct deposit information is in the app, we must verify it with your bank, which can take up to 2 to 3 business days to complete.


Next Day Pay Access

If Next Day Pay is not working, you will still receive your paycheck on your regularly scheduled pay date for that work week.

To qualify for Next Day Pay, you must clock in and out of your shift in the ShiftMed app—and don't forget to get a nursing supervisor's signature when you clock out. Clock outs must occur within 60 minutes of your shift's scheduled end time.

Take Note: We use GPS to confirm your location when clocking in and out of a shift. So, please be aware that poor cell service or cell tower issues could impact your ability to access Next Day Pay. Please connect to the facility's wifi to avoid this issue!

Next Day Pay is only available for the current pay period (Saturday-Friday), and you can only submit one request per day. Once you submit a request, you can't undo it.

Next Day Pay is not guaranteed. Below are situations where it's inaccessible.

  • Orientation Shifts

  • Sent Home Early Shifts

  • Shifts worked 2-hours past the shift's scheduled end time

  • Shifts missing a clock-out signature

  • Shifts not recorded within the app

  • Friday overnight shifts where clock out occurs on Saturday


Federal Bank Holidays

Please be aware that holidays observed by the Federal Reserve System will delay your requests. So, if you submit a Next Day Pay request on one of these holidays, your bank won't process it until the next business day. Then, you'll get paid the business day after that.

For example, if you submit a request on Tuesday, July 4, your bank will process the request on Wednesday, July 5, and you can access your pay on Thursday, July 6.

As another example around a holiday, if you clock out of a shift after 6 pm Eastern the day before a holiday, your bank will process the request the day after the holiday for payment the following day.

It may look like this: You request Next Day Pay on Monday, July 3, at 6:30 pm Eastern. Your bank will process the request on Wednesday, July 5, and you can access your pay on Thursday, July 6.


FAQs

Why can I only access up to 65% of my pay?

By withholding 35%, you can pay your required payroll taxes (federal income tax, social security tax, Medicare tax, etc.) After paying your taxes, you'll receive any remaining funds on the scheduled weekly payday.

Why does my available balance show $0 on Saturday?

Saturday starts a new pay period. Therefore, your balance zeroes out every Saturday until you work your first shift for that pay period. Requests must be made prior to 11:59 pm on Friday for shifts worked in a single pay period.

What if I update my direct deposit information with a request in progress?

Your Next Day Pay request cannot be processed. We must verify your bank details before processing any requests. It can take up to 2 to 3 business days to verify this information.
