To ensure you are paid accurately and on time for all hours worked, you are required to record your time using the ShiftMed app for every shift.
Key Things to Remember
The ShiftMed app is your official timecard.
All hours submitted for payment must be recorded via the app.
Even if a facility has its own system, you are still required to clock in and out within the ShiftMed app. This allows us to process your payroll correctly.

Your ShiftMed clock-in/out is what we use for payment.
Facility systems are for their internal records only.
Important: Using the ShiftMed app as your primary timekeeping method is the only way to guarantee your hours are submitted to our payroll team without delays. Failure to clock in or out in the app may result in a delay or adjustment to your pay.
If you encounter a technical issue when clocking in or out of a shift, you can manually submit your time to us. However, doing so may delay the processing of your pay. Therefore, we recommend taking these steps before going the manual route:
Ensure you have the most up-to-date version of the ShiftMed app on your device.
Fully close the app and then reopen it to see if that solves the iss
If you're still unable to clock in or out, please send us a chat in the app to request a missed punch form.
Missed Punch Form Policy: You’ll be allowed 2 missed punch submissions every 6 months. Any additional MPF submissions within the 6-month period may result in a disciplinary action such as suspension or termination.
Clocking In
To ensure you are paid accurately, you must clock in using the ShiftMed app at the start of your shift. Follow these steps carefully.
Before Your Shift:
Enable Permissions: Ensure your phone's push notifications and location services (GPS) are enabled for the ShiftMed app. This is required to receive reminders and for the app to verify your location at the facility.
Arrive On Time: Plan to arrive at the facility with enough time to complete the clock-in process before your scheduled start time.
How to Clock In:
When you arrive at the facility, follow these steps:
Get a Reminder: Approximately five minutes before your shift starts, you will receive a push notification reminding you to clock in.
Go to the Nurses' Station: You must be physically at the facility to clock in. The app uses GPS to confirm your location.
Open the ShiftMed App:
Tap on the “My Shifts” tab at the bottom of your screen.
Select the upcoming shift you are about to work.
Tap the “Clock In” button.
Get a Signature (If Required): Some facilities require a nursing supervisor's signature on your phone to finalize your clock-in. If prompted, please find a supervisor to provide their signature.
If you have any issues clocking in, please contact ShiftMed Support immediately.
Clocking Out
To complete your shift and ensure timely payment, you must officially clock out using the ShiftMed app.
A nursing supervisor's signature is ALWAYS required to finalize your clock-out.
How to Clock Out:
Open the ShiftMed App at the end of your shift.
Tap on the “My Shifts” tab at the bottom of your screen.
Select the active shift you are finishing.
Tap the “Clock Out” button.
Locate a nursing supervisor to review and sign your shift.
The supervisor must tap “Approve” on your phone to provide their electronic signature and complete the process.
If You Cannot Get a Signature:
We understand that it can sometimes be difficult to locate a supervisor. However, you must still complete the clock-out process in the app if your shift has ended.
Follow steps 1-4 above to initiate the clock-out.
If after a reasonable effort you cannot find a supervisor, complete the clock-out without the signature.
Important: You must immediately notify ShiftMed about the missing signature and provide the name of the supervisor you attempted to find.
3. After tapping Supervisor Unavailable, you'll get this pop-up: Are you sure you want to clock [in/out] without a supervisor's signature?
Note: You need to be sure because this shift may be disputed, which can impact your pay.
Consequences of a Missing Signature When Clocking Out
Pay Services Suspension: You will be unable to use Next Day Pay® or Instant Pay for that shift's earnings.
Payroll Delay: Your payment for that shift will be placed on hold pending verification, which will cause a delay in receiving your pay.
Manual Verification: Our payroll team will need to manually confirm your hours with the facility, a process that can take several business days.
Completing the clock-out process correctly is the best way to ensure you are paid quickly and accurately.
If you clock out of your shift without a nursing supervisor's signature, you will NOT be able to use our Next Day Pay® or Instant Pay service. You may also experience a delay in your pay.

You’ll be asked if you’re sure you want to clock in. Click Yes when prompted.
Tap Got It.
Don’t forget to clock out when you’ve completed your shift! Simply follow the same steps as above.
