Background Check Steps for CNAs

Before you can start your background check, you must first have your core credentials verified. This includes your Professional License, Identification and I-9.

The Background Check team will run your background through GCHEX and may require fingerprinting.

ShiftMed covers the cost of fingerprinting.

If you have previously been fingerprinted

ShiftMed will process your Background Check and update your profile to complete your background check credential.

If you have not been fingerprinted before

ShiftMed will register you with GCHEX. The GCHEXs system will send a email with further instructions on how to schedule your fingerprinting.

  1. Complete your survey disclosure

  2. Schedule and complete your fingerprinting


What Happens Next for CNAs

  • ShiftMed may receive results up to 10 days after registration.

  • While processing, your Background Check credential will appear as "Pending" in the My Credentials section of the app.


Background Check Steps for LPNs and RNs

Before you can start your background check, you must first have your core credentials verified. This includes your Professional License, Identification and I-9.

  • To initiate a background check, you must first unlock a shift

    • On the "Unlock Facility" page, find the Complete Requirements section.

    • Select the Background Check option.

    • Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the required forms directly in the app. You must finish these forms to proceed.



What Happens Next for LPNs and RNs

  • Checkr results are typically available within 2-3 weeks

    • The Estimated Completion Date can be viewed on the Checkr website.

  • While processing, your Background Check credential will appear as "Pending" in the My Credentials section of the app.



Once Your Background Check is Complete

When we receive the final results, your profile and credential status will be updated automatically. You will then see this requirement marked as complete.
