For all North Carolina Healthcare Professionals (CNA, LPN, RN) joining the ShiftMed team, see below for steps to complete your background check.
CNA Background Check Steps:
Once your TB Test, Annual Physical, Identification, and Professional License credentials are all verified by ShiftMed’s credentialing team, you will then be invited to complete your Background Check.
You will see the NC Background Check Consent form in the 'My Documents' section of the ShiftMed app.
You must complete this form in order to continue your Background Check process.
Once this form has been completed, ShiftMed will process and verify your Background Check in the North Carolina Background Check System.
Once ShiftMed has entered you into the North Carolina Background Check System you will be emailed a form. The form that will be sent to you will vary depending on your North Carolina Residency.
If you have been a resident of North Carolina for the past 5 years then a name-based background check will need to be completed. You will receive an email invitation from ShiftMed with the additional required form to complete.
You can search your inbox for the subject line "NC Name Based Consent Form"
However, if you have not been a resident of North Carolina for the past 5 years then a fingerprint-based background check will need to be completed.
You will receive an email invitation from a ShiftMed team member with additional information on the next steps. You will need to take the attached form in the email to your nearest law enforcement agency to schedule your fingerprint appointment.
ShiftMed will typically have access to the results for both the Name-Based Background Checks and the Fingerprint Based Background Checks within 7 - 10 business days. Your profile will be updated with the results to complete your background check credential.
LPN / RN Background Check Steps:
Once your TB Test, Identification, Professional License, and I-9 credentials are all verified by ShiftMed’s credentialing team, you will then be invited to complete your Background Check in the app.
Under the "Needs your attention" you will see Background Check -> Missing. Select the Background Check option, and follow the prompts on the screen.
You must complete these forms in the app in order to continue your Background Check process.
Once this form has been completed, ShiftMed will receive the results from CheckR within a few business days. Your profile will be updated with the results to complete your background check credential.
Eligible LPN/RNs must have an active license with no public orders or issues with abuse or neglect.
Note: The ShiftMed app will notify you right away when you are available to start working.
