When ShiftMed started, we were primarily focused on nursing homes and long-term care facilities which are part of our post-acute side of the business. Now we have started expanding into acute care partnering up with big health systems!
What is Post Acute?
Post Acute care refers to the phase of healthcare that occurs after a patient has been treated for an acute illness or injury. Post-acute care involves providing ongoing medical and rehabilitative care to patients who are transitioning from a hospital setting back to their homes or other healthcare facilities.

What do I Need to Apply for Post Acute Work?
Post Acute requirements are typically determined by state requirements, however, some Post Acute facilities may require additional credentials. The great news is, you won't have to guess, the ShiftMed app will tell you exactly what you need when you go to Unlock a facility.
Some of the credentials you may need to upload are:

When uploading any credential it is important to understand that the shift you were looking at may not be available by the time the credential has been reviewed. Typically our team is able to review a credential within 24-48 business hours, so while you might not be able to snag that shift, we will make sure you are working as soon as possible!
What is Acute?
Healthcare Professionals working in acute care settings, such as emergency departments or intensive care units, are usually involved in providing immediate and critical care to patients with acute medical conditions. This can include tasks such as administering medications, monitoring vital signs, coordinating with other healthcare professionals, and assisting with various medical procedures.
