Healthcare professionals are exposed to various infectious diseases when caring for patients. Therefore, you should stay up-to-date on routine vaccinations, such as Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap), especially if you're working with newborns or compromised infants.
According to the CDC, adults who've never gotten a Tdap vaccination can receive a single dose at any time. From there, they should receive a Td or Tdap booster every 10 years.
Vaccine and Titer Requirements
Some ShiftMed facility partners require healthcare professionals to show proof of receiving the Tdap vaccination or completing a titer test. In other words, if you don't meet the requirements, the ShiftMed app won't allow you to claim shifts at these locations.
Tdap Vaccine Checklist
When adding your vaccine information to the app, you must have/include the following:
Your Full Name
Vaccine Name
Vaccination Location Information
Vaccination Date
Tdap Titer Checklist
When adding your titer information to the app, you must include the following:
Your Full Name
Location of Titer Blood Test Completion
Must Show Immunity to Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis
If your titer results are "equivocal," it means you don't have immunity and need another vaccine. If your results indicate you don't have immunity to all three of these diseases, we can accept a negative titer if you get a booster following the date of your negative Tdap blood test.
Adding Your Information to the App
To add your Tdap vaccine or titer information, follow these steps:
Go to My Credentials and tap Tdap Vaccine located under either Required, Additional, or Unlock depending on your location.
Select Vaccine or Titer from the dropdown menu.
Follow the steps to upload an image of your vaccination or titer record.
