Background Check Prerequisites

Before you can start your background check, you must first have your core credentials verified. This includes your Professional License, Identification and I-9.



Background Check Steps for CNAs

  • Sign the LA State Police Internet BGC Authorization form in the app.

  • ShiftMed will manually initiate your State Police Background Check.

Eligible CNAs must have an active license with no public orders or issues with abuse or neglect.


Background Check Steps for LPN/RN

  • To initiate a background check, you must first unlock a shift

    • On the "Unlock Facility" page, find the Complete Requirements section.

    • Select the Background Check option.

    • Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the required forms directly in the app. You must finish these forms to proceed.

What Happens Next

  • Results are typically available within 2-3 weeks.

  • While processing, your Background Check credential will appear as "Pending" in the My Credentials section of the app.

The ShiftMed app will notify you right away when you are available to start working.



Once Your Background Check is Complete

When we receive the final results, your profile and credential status will be updated automatically. You will then see this requirement marked as complete.
