ShiftMed Requirements
To begin onboarding through ShiftMed, all healthcare professionals will need to submit and complete the following within the ShiftMed app:
Proof of Identification (DL, Photo ID, Passport, etc.)
Social Security Number
Professional License: (6+ months experience)
You can upload multiple Professional Licenses and any Specialties, if applicable.
Training Manual: Complete directly within the app using the tap to sign feature.
Company Handbook: Complete directly within the app using the tap to sign feature.
Arbitration Agreement
Submit Work History (this is like uploading a resume)
Credentialing Requirements
Candidates must complete the following credentialing expectations:
RI – Coming soon
VT – Coming soon
WV – Coming soon
Background Checks & Screening
SAM
OIG
Background Check
Drug Screen (7 Panel – DE/NC Only)
Certifications
BLS (LPN/RN Only)
Health Requirements
Physical — Within 12 months of start
Not required in DE, MD, ME
TB Testing (accepted methods only):
TB Blood Test (QuantiFERON or T-Spot)
1 or 2 Step PPD
If PPD is positive, a Chest XRAY is required
Chest X-Ray (CXR)
Note: Facility may require proof of prior positive TB test if using CXR
Flu Shot (or declination) — Valid for current flu season
Flu season Nov 1 – Mar 31
Maine and New Jersey must supply medical exemption if not vaccinated
Hepatitis B — Vaccine series, positive titer, or declination accepted
Additional Training
Genesis Healthcare Required Education Form — Must pass with 80%
Safe Resident Handling Education and Quiz
Dementia Training
ChartSmart Express Training – Nurses Only
What to Expect On-Site
Attire: Solid Scrubs unless stated otherwise
HCPs must bring a state or federal issued identification to the facility and always wear a photo badge.

ShiftMed Attendance Policy & Expectations
Clocking in and out:
You are required to clock in and out for every shift using BOTH the ShiftMed app and the Genesis UKG system.
The Genesis UKG system requires clock in and out using the following: Two-Digits each Month and Day of DOB followed by last four of SSN.
You can verify whether your punches have been entered while at the UKG timeclock by following the instructions in the attached document.
Missed Punches:
If you are unable to use the app, you must promptly request a missed punch form from the Care Team to correct your time.
If you are unable to punch at the Genesis UKG System, complete the ShiftMed – Missed Punch Form.
Cancelling a Shift:
If you need to cancel a shift, you must report it in the ShiftMed app.
Attendance Expectations:
While ShiftMed operates as an “on-demand” or “PRN” platform and may categorize attendance events - such as call-outs, cancellations, and unscheduled shifts - using a weighted system (see more details here), our hospital partners maintain high attendance expectations and may consider any change to a claimed shift to be an attendance violation.
Failure to adhere to these procedures, or patterns of excessive lateness or cancellations, may impact your future shift opportunities at all Genesis Healthcare facilities.
