You can find available orientation shifts posted by the hospital right in the app. Don't worry about access—we'll have your logins, EMR, and medication room system access all set up and ready to go for your very first shift.
ShiftMed + Children's Attendance Policy & Expectations
Clocking in and out:
You are required to clock in and out for every shift using the ShiftMed app.
You must collect a signature from a Nurse Supervisor at the completion of your shift.
Missed Punches:
If you are unable to use the app, you must promptly request a missed punch form from the Care Team to correct your time.
Cancelling a Shift:
If you need to cancel a shift, you must both report it in the ShiftMed app
AND notify the hospital directly. The hospital's contact information is available within the facility info section of the app.
Attendance Expectations:
Children’s Minnesota invests time and resources into providing an orientation to their hospital(s) and wants ShiftMed staff to return on a regular basis which effectively supports their training and access to systems (EMR, Pyxis, etc).
While ShiftMed is an “on-demand” or “PRN” platform and may classify attendance violations on a weighted scale for Call Outs, Cancels, and Unschedules (more details here), our hospitals have high expectations for attendance for all staff and view any change in schedule to a claimed shift as an attendance violation.
We ask that you please be intentional with your claiming of shifts and only claim those that you know you truly can work.
Failure to adhere to these procedures, or patterns of excessive lateness or cancellations, may impact your future shift opportunities at all Children’s MN hospitals.
Hospital Cancellations:
Please note that Children’s MN does have the option to cancel a shift with more than 2hrs before its start to support their fluctuating staffing needs. (This does not apply to Guaranteed shifts)
If you’re cancelled with more than 2hrs before start of shift, you do not receive compensation from ShiftMed but are able to pursue other work opportunities on the ShiftMed app.
If you have concerns about hospital cancellations, please reach out to LTACRecruiting@shiftmed.com.
