To claim shifts at our partnered Acute Health Systems, you must complete specific learning modules. These requirements vary based on your specialty, location, and prior facility experience.
What is the Online Learning Certificate?
Some of our partner health systems require you to complete online learning modules before you can claim shifts at their facilities. When you finish, you receive a certificate of completion. You will upload that certificate to your ShiftMed profile as your Online Learning Certificate.
The modules you need depend on the health system, your role and specialty, your location, and whether you have worked at that facility before. You can still claim shifts at other facilities while you work on these.
What is the ShiftMed Learning Lab?
The ShiftMed Learning Lab is our online training site, where many of your required courses live, including SSM Health, Genesis Healthcare, and California training. It is invite-only: we enroll you automatically when you are eligible, and you will get an email when your courses are ready.
Learning Lab website: learning.shiftmed.com
Which health systems use the ShiftMed Learning Lab?
Required training for these partners is in the ShiftMed Learning Lab:
The Learning Lab keeps growing! We are regularly bringing more of our partner health systems into the Learning Lab, so more of your required training can live in one place, with one login. When a new partner joins, eligible professionals are enrolled automatically, with no extra steps!
Do I need to request access?
No. Enrollment is automatic. When your ShiftMed profile meets a partner’s requirements, such as a verified license, specialty, and an Available status, we enroll you in the right courses and send you an email.
First time in the Learning Lab? You will get a welcome email with your login details, plus an email confirming your courses.
Already have an account? New courses appear on your dashboard automatically. Log in with the same username and password you already use.
Finished a course? Your certificate is ready to download right away. For many courses, our team also collects completions automatically and adds them to your profile for you.
How do I log in?
Look for an email from ShiftMed Learning Lab with the subject "ShiftMed: New User Account, Courses Assigned." A second email confirms your course enrollment.
Go to learning.shiftmed.com and select Log in.
Your username is the email address on your ShiftMed profile, typed in all lowercase.
Use the login details from your welcome email. You will be asked to create a new password the first time you log in.
Go to My Courses (or your Program, for SSM Health) to begin.
I forgot my password:
On the login page, select Lost password and enter your username or email (they are the same). You will receive an email titled "ShiftMed Learning Lab: Password reset requested" from ShiftMed Team (via ShiftMed Learning Lab).
I did not get my Learning Lab email:
Search your Spam, Junk, and All Mail folders for "ShiftMed Learning Lab."
Work email accounts often block these emails. Using a personal email on your ShiftMed profile helps.
For SSM Health, invites can take 24 to 48 hours after your specialty is verified.
Still nothing after 48 business hours? Contact support (see Need help? below).
Requirements by Health System
Find your health system below. If you are not sure which applies to you, open the shift in the app and select Unlock to see what is missing.
SSM Health
Who is enrolled?
RNs, LPNs, CNAs, RTs, Surgical Techs, and Pharmacy professionals working (or planning to work) at SSM Health facilities. To receive your invite, your profile needs:
A verified professional license, resume, and specialty (RNs need a verified acute specialty; CNAs need "CNA Acute")
An Available status
What to expect
Your courses are based on your highest-acuity specialty and take about 1.5 to 3 hours in total.
Completed courses move from Course Overview to your Program section. If a course disappears from your dashboard, it is done.
When you finish, you may be asked to complete the OSHA Clearance form in the Learning Lab.
SSM also requires a Fall Prevention course, assigned to you in the Learning Lab. No certificate upload is needed for that one.
Scored modules have a limited number of attempts, so take your time.
Pay: SSM modules are paid at a flat rate based on your role.
Genesis Healthcare
ChartSmart Express Training is required for all LPNs and RNs within 30 days of your first Genesis shift claim. If it is not completed, you will not be able to claim Genesis shifts.
This applies even if you have worked with Genesis for a long time.
Enrollment is automatic through the ShiftMed Learning Lab. Search your email for "Learning Lab" or "Genesis Healthcare Orientation."
The training takes a little over 2 hours and is currently unpaid.
Already completed it through Moodle or Adobe? We still accept those certificates.
A failed result means your score was not high enough, and you will need to retake the training.
LCMC Health
After you upload all your credentials and the facility approves your request, we set up your account.
You will receive login details from Cornerstone, LCMC’s learning platform.
ShiftMed pays you for the time it takes to complete the LCMC modules.
LCMC has separate requirements by location: West Jeff, East Jeff, Lakeside, UMC, and Downtown ED. Upload your certificate to the matching location.
If you previously held an internal position or limited assignment at LCMC, you must be separated for one year before claiming LCMC shifts through ShiftMed.
Facilities that require modules before orientation
Complete your learning modules before claiming or attending an orientation shift at: MLK, Powers Health, ContinueCare, Landmark, and Shriners. Our team will reach out with access details. See the facility onboarding guides in the Help Center for more information.
Facilities that complete modules during orientation
At these facilities, your modules are completed during your orientation shift, so there is nothing to do ahead of time. If a shift shows Online Learning Certificate as missing, claim an orientation shift first.
Presbyterian
Hennepin
Southcoast
Kindred
Luminis
Children’s Minnesota
Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming
Tip: Use the Filter option in the Shifts Feed to find orientation shifts quickly.
California: Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
Required for all professionals working at California facilities, and renewed every 2 years.
Enrollment is automatic through the ShiftMed Learning Lab. You have 45 days to start the training before your seat is released.
Takes about 90 minutes (non-supervisors) or 120 minutes (supervisors). This training is unpaid.
Upload your certificate under the CA Sexual Harassment Training credential (Supervisor or Non-Supervisor).
How do I submit my certificate?
When you finish, download your certificate from the Learning Lab (or your health system’s platform).
In the ShiftMed app, go to your Credentials.
Upload it under Online Learning Certificate and choose the matching health system or location (for example, SSM or LCMC West Jeff).
Learning Lab certificates include a QR code that we use to verify them. Your certificate is reviewed within 1 to 3 business days. In the meantime, you can keep claiming shifts at other facilities. For SSM Health and California training, our team also checks completion reports daily and uploads certificates for anyone who missed this step.

Tips for a smooth experience
Use a computer and strong Wi-Fi. Phones and weak connections cause the most issues.
Finish a module before you log out. You can stop and come back anytime, but leaving mid-module can lock you out of that module if an update happens.
Stay on the training window. Switching tabs can pause some trainings. Turn on Auto-Advance if you see it.
A video played twice? That happens if you left mid-video. Your progress is saved.
Bookmark learning.shiftmed.com so it is easy to return.
Download your certificate right away and upload it to the app the same day.
Keep your profile email current. It is your Learning Lab username.
