South Carolina CNA Credentialing Requirements

What credentials do I need to work as a CNA in South Carolina?

Thank you for your interest in ShiftMed. Here is a Checklist of requirements for CNAs that are interested in working through ShiftMed in this area.

Please NOTE that you must have a Professional License through the state of South Carolina.

Required Credentials:

Documents that must be uploaded into the ShiftMed App before you can start claiming shifts:

  • Physical (completed within the last year)

  • ID

  • I-9

  • COVID-19 Vaccine - All HCPs must have either a COVID-19 Vaccination or must complete a Medical or Religious Exemption form in the app.

  • Training Manual - complete directly within the app using the tap to sign feature

  • Company Handbook - complete directly within the app using the tap to sign feature

  • Flu Shot - during flu season (October-March), must have either a current flu shot or sign flu shot declination on file


Additional Credentials:

Please note that these are NOT required for you to be hired by ShiftMed. These are special requirements that some of our partner facilities require:

  • COVID-19 Test - upload your most current negative COVID-19 test result (Please note that partner facilities with the clipboard symbol in-front of their name in the app - may have COVID-19 testing at their facility)

  • Health Insurance Card - to have on file for the COVID-19 Vaccine

  • Get 2 References - there are a few partner facilities that require verified references before claiming a shift - please enter mobile numbers for your references

  • MMR - some of our partner facilities require this credential before claiming a shift

  • Varicella - some of our partner facilities require this credential before claiming a shift

  • 2-step PPD, 1-step PPD or TB Blood Test (completed within the last year) or Chest X-Ray (completed within the last 5 years) **You will have more facility options if you have a 2-step PPD vs a 1-step PPD.

  • Resume


Forms To Complete:

  • If you do not have 12 months continuous residency in the state of South Carolina - Completed the CheckR Email to start a Criminal Background Check - this will be emailed to you once you have uploaded your Annual Physical, and ID.

  • South Carolina ShiftMed Terms of Employment- this can be found under the Documents -> Additional tab


Items that ShiftMed will Verify:

  • Criminal Background Check either through SLED or CheckR depending on residency

  • Active Professional South Carolina CNA License

  • Clear record on the South Carolina Sexual Predator Registry Check

  • Clear record on the Office of Inspector General (OIG) Exclusion Check
