Background checks can vary in processing time based on several factors, including the size and location of your city, the county you reside in, and the operations of the local courthouse.

At ShiftMed, we appreciate your patience during this process and will keep you informed with updates as your background check progresses.

What causes delays in a Background Check?

Several factors can impact the speed of your background check, such as:

  • State-Specific Regulations

  • Incomplete or Inaccurate Records

  • Third-Party Delays (e.g., data providers)

  • Time Required for Data Confirmation

  • Court Processing Times

Sometimes, we are simply at the mercy of the courts, especially if they do not offer digital access or are experiencing internal delays.

IMPORTANT: All Healthcare Professionals hired by ShiftMed are W-2 employees, not independent contractors. As a W-2 employer, we are required to complete state-mandated background checks, which may differ from those used by a 1099 employer.
